Christians Are so Offensive...

People say they're offended when christians pray...I say the proper word isn't "Offended", it's "Stupid." You're not really offended, you just have some kind of stupid vendetta. I don't see you getting "offended" when an athiest says there's no god, or when a Buddhist practices his beliefs. Just shut up before I start TRYING to offend you.

Anyone who is sincerely offended by just the simple act of prayer, or someone saying what they believe, has brain issues, and is probably cut to the core when someone jokingly calls them "Stupid". I'm all for prayer in schools, but I can understand why they might not be able to let teachers lead the students in it. People have a right to believe what they want, and shouldn't be forced to pray.

However, even this law is one-sided. BIG BIG no-no's from the government on college professors teaching about God, but there's absolutely no reprimand for a professor that wants to get up there and vehemently denounce the existence of such a God.

So admit it, you're not offended by me, you just have something stuck up your undies about God himself. Move to a country where you're not free. See how you like it then see if you want to turn America into it.

Getting Those Creative Juices Flowing...

First of all I'd like to say that I've always found that phrase to be annoyingly weird.

But anyway, it's true, I've been doing a lot of creative things lately. Finished another song for Strum Town (Ehh, thinking of changing some things on it though), made about four different begginings to other songs, and have been writing on and off for my book. All this, this and last week.

What can I say, I have a lot of projects going. But the thing about having so many is that it isn't easy to get burnt out. If I run out of inspiration in one place, I can just go on to the next project.

Rainy Day Parade

More song lyrics. Wrote this along with two others during general conference.

Rainy Day Parade

1-It's our rainy day parade
No one's here to watch us go
Because they all have a home to go to
The best thing about the pouring rain
Is that our tears become part of something
As we march to our beautiful tune

C-Rain please don't go away
We can't live another day
Marching along for all to see
With nothing left to say

2-The best thing about the pouring rain
Is that your tears are part of something
When at the end, the rain brings rainbows
I'll use your tears to make them sing

(Chorus)

This is our rainy day parade

B-Broken hearts and broken dreams
We are all the same
So if you're hurting walk with me
Let the rain wash it all away
I'll throw your sins into the sea
March with me and my parade

Apathy Versus Hypocrosy

Song lyrics, they're pretty self-explanatory.

Apathy Versus Hypocrosy

1-Let the rocks cry out

You've always stood firm in belief
Believing in nothing you see
What drives you to return to
Where you immediately want to leave

Let the rocks cry out

All who have ears let them hear
You cower in infernal fear
Disguised as your pride
You bury it inside
Just living year after miserable year

C-Lift your hands
Open your mouth
Speak your words you know will please
But when your poorly laid plans
Meet preposturous doubt
You will see
As the rocks and the trees
Sing praises--greater than these

2-You've always been first to the door
So quick to fall flat on the floor
But when the end comes you will see that
Sincerity calls for much more

Let the rocks cry out

All who have eyes let them see
You strive for the least you can be
May your house be laid bare
So that finally there
You might seek to be finally free

(Chorus)

B-I am not interested in your lip service
I am not looking for a mindless drone
If you don't love me, I don't want your words
I just want you to return home

Let this be a warning to the rocks--that cry--for you
They will once more be silent, soon
For I will break you--make you--take you--back to me

Obama Hating...?

Ok, well Obama is definitely annoying. I don't like that he supports his America-Hating pastor. Or that he's got such a vendetta for this healthcare crap. (That's another subject).

But why is there so much crap thrown at the president? Believe me, I REALLY don't like Obama, but he's just a president. It's not like he's solely responsible for everything happening in the country. There are other things to talk about. Football, for crying out loud.

The point of this post isn't a pro-bama blog. God, don't ever get me wrong there. I don't like ONE thing about the guy. I just don't see the point in wasting so much conversation on something that isn't gonna go two terms. (Unless it does, in which case the world must come to an end)

I know it seems contradictary to post a blog about not talking about something...but it's not the first time it's been done. And this will hopefully be my last Bama blog. (That's not to say, however, that it will be my last political blog)

The Diamond Book: Preface

Here's the preface to my, as of yet, unnamed book.

PREFACE

It's funny how life finds ways to make your existence seem so insignificant. Take payphones for instance. You can hear the worst of news, news that may shatter your world, but after returning the receiver to its cradle, the payphone will methodically drop the change for your unused minutes. As if the extra fifteen cents can somehow make up for any possible ordeal you just learned of. And gravestones; your entire life, every little thing you stood for, fought for, bled for; reduced...to what usually amounts to "Here lies you. You lived. You died."   So it seems no matter what you do, you end up underground, just like everyone else.

So what about your soul? Do you believe you have a soul? Where does it go when you die? Nowhere? Heaven? Hell? And, if your life is just a speck in the grand scheme of things, is your soul any different?

These questions are what haunt most people. But the answers, it seems, are equally haunting. The secrets to controlling one’s soul…how long could they be kept secret? What if you could know a way to keep your soul safe, even after death? And what would you do to gain this power?
It seems there is a way to defy insignificance. There is a way to live again. It is in our nature to imagine changing our destiny, but destiny has a way of changing everything, and turning one’s insignificant life into something unimaginable.

A Blog is Born

Well, I made a blog. I don't know how interesting it's gonna be, or if I'll ever get any followers, lol. But I'll try to post regularly, song lyrics, thoughts, whatever.

ABOUT ME

Hello, I'm Joel. I live in Liberty, Texas, I work at a furniture store, here, and live in a apartment, which I rarely clean. I stress RARELY, meaning not NEVER. It does get cleaned.

My main interest in life is music. Ever since I bought my first iPod I've been addicted. I'm not sure why I bought the iPod (Probably just following the fad of the day), but I'm glad I did. I mostly listen to rock, but I definitely have a love for calmer music as well.

I've written tons of songs, though most of them might not ever see the light of day. They're all christian, though some of the lyrics don't talk directly about "God", but life's situations. Christians live lives too.

I start a lot of projects, almost too many to keep up with. Right now, I have "Easily Amused", which is a rock band project which is more of a solo project currently.

Then there's "Strum Town" which was and still is a solo project, intentionally. It's an acoustic CD to calm your nerves.

Lastly, I have a book I'm working on. I don't want to give away all the details, but it's a story about a diamond that lets you become another person when you die. It's not a religious book, it's just a fiction book.

All of these have facebook pages, (Except the book, simply because I can't, for the life of me, think of a name for it.) if you want to look them up.
